Welcoming Rust Program Manager, Tomáš Šedovič, to the Rust Foundation Team!

The Rust Foundation is thrilled to welcome Tomáš Šedovič @tomassedovic (he/him) to our team as a full-time Rust Program Manager. The Leadership Council created this role as part of its Project Priorities Budget, and we see Tomáš’ move from contractor to full-time employee as a demonstration of our commitment to treating the needs and goals of the Rust Project as a first priority. Tomáš will be reporting to Lori Lorusso, Director of Outreach at the Rust Foundation.

Tomáš has been working on the Rust project as a contractor since June 2025. He is a co-lead of the Project Goals team as well as member of the Content and Program Management teams. He regularly attends Libs, Lang, Cargo, Types, FLS, and Leadership Council meetings, among others and has built relationships with the teams and people within them, always helping to keep activities and action items moving along. As part of this work, he takes minutes, stays up-to-date on what’s going on within the Project and makes sure nothing gets dropped. Tomáš also serves as a liaison between the Rust Project and cross-language ecosystem efforts like Rust for Linux and CPython.

Rust Foundation Executive Director & CEO Dr. Rebecca Rumbul says:

His skills make a genuine difference, and I’m delighted that he will be continuing his work with the Rust Project as a permanent member of staff.”

About his new role, Tomáš says:

“I’ve been using Rust since version 0.8 back in 2013 and working on it full time is something I never even dared to hope for.

The work that I do here is delightfully varied and fulfilling, but typically tends to be less visible or recognised. I am thrilled that both the Project and Foundation see its value and want it to continue.

By being part of the Foundation staff I hope to be able to bring it and the Project closer together, and keep supporting our teams to make Rust and its community the best it could be.”
