Welcoming Infrastructure Engineer Ubiratan Soares to the Rust Foundation Team!

The Rust Foundation is pleased to announce the newest addition to the engineering team — Infrastructure Engineer, Ubiratan Soares — “Ubi” for short.
Ubi joins the Rust Foundation as our second Infrastructure Engineer, providing much-needed support to the Rust project and its infrastructure, and collaborates closely with fellow Rust Foundation Infrastructure Engineer, Marco Ieni. As a member of the Technology Team, Ubi will help ensure that the infrastructure supporting Rust and related projects is reliable, efficient, productive, and secure. He will be responsible for the operations of all current and future infrastructure, managing existing tools and new developments while working directly with the Rust Project Infrastructure team in their daily activities. Ubiratan was born and raised in São Paulo, Brazil, and he has been living in Spain since 2019.
About Rust and his new role at the Rust Foundation, Ubi says:
“I discovered Rust in 2018, but I never had a chance to really dive into it until 2023, when I decided to take the challenge and add Rust to my toolbelt as an option for system programming. Reconnecting with Rust was just awesome; I found it to be more than a systems-oriented language with functional programming concepts built in. To me, Rust provided a refreshing philosophy when building and shipping my own tools.
Since then, I’ve had the chance to contribute to a few open-source projects written in Rust. Being able to contribute directly to Rust itself in a full-time role is beyond awesome, and I’m excited to learn more about the project, the community, and do my best to help this ecosystem thrive.”
Please join us in welcoming Ubi to the Rust Foundation team!
