The RustConf 2026 Call for Proposals Is Open!

Seated audience applauding

The Rust Foundation is excited to share that the Call for Talk Proposals (CFP) is now officially open for RustConf 2026, taking place September 8–11, 2026 in Montréal, Canada & online!

We’ll be gathering Rustaceans from around the world for 2+ days of talks, workshops, an UnConference, and community connection — and we’d love to see your voice on the program.

RustConf is special because it celebrates many perspectives, interests, and skill levels within our global Rust community. Whether you’re building delightful tools, experimenting with Rust in surprising places, exploring systems design, or sharing lessons from collaboration and community, there’s space for you here.

Bring Your Knowledge and Curiosity to the Stage

You don’t need to be a full-time Rust expert or a seasoned presenter to submit a proposal. We invite experimenters, hobbyists, and Rust community storytellers to apply.

Our initial review process is anonymized, meaning proposals are evaluated without names or biographies attached. This helps us focus on ideas, insight, and creativity — not résumés. Don’t worry about perfecting your title or abstract right now; selected speakers will have time to polish everything before publication.

What We’re Looking For

We welcome a wide range of Rust-related topics, and we aim for a balanced program. You’ll choose the best fit when submitting. Example categories include:

  • Practical Rust Insights: Lessons from real-world Rust usage
  • Community Interest Stories: The human side of Rust collaboration and impact
  • Design & Architecture: The “why” behind patterns and performance decisions
  • Skills & Tooling: Debugging, testing, workflows, and joyful developer experience
  • Rust in New & Exciting Places: Novel use cases, language features, and what’s next
  • Experiments & Wild Ideas: Creative and unexpected Rust projects
  • Learning & Teaching Rust: Documentation, onboarding, pedagogy, accessibility
  • Rust Global: Case studies from industry and organizations worldwide

If your idea doesn’t fit neatly in a category, that’s okay! You’ll also have an option to submit without selecting a category.

Talk Formats, Reviews & Tips

  • You may submit as many proposals as you like
  • Full-length sessions and lightning talk proposals welcome
  • Keep abstracts anonymous (no personal info, links, or bios)

The submission form will ask for details like:

  • Target audience skill level
  • Your talk structure
  • Up to three audience takeaways
  • Whether Q&A or remote delivery is preferred

If selected, you’ll later be able to refine your title, description, and speaker bio.

Participating From Anywhere

RustConf will take place onsite in Montréal and online. We’re working hard to make remote attendance more engaging than ever, and will share details soon. Conference session speakers will continue to be supported in a variety of ways — including travel stipends for those joining us in person and general guidance for those only able to present remotely.

UnConference & Tickets

This year, RustConf’s UnConference — a collaborative space for open dialogue, hacking, and exploration — will require pre-registration and have limited capacity. Registration for RustConf and the UnConference will open soon.

Your Idea Could Shape the Future of Rust

RustConf helps move the language forward not just through code, but through community learning, storytelling, experimentation, and shared insight. Your talk doesn’t need to be perfect today. It just needs to spark curiosity, offer value, or illuminate something others can learn from.

Whether it’s a clever debugging tool, a global-scale production story, a quirky experiment, or a journey through mentorship and teaching — the Rust community wants to hear from you.

Submit your proposal by February 16, 2026

Let’s build RustConf 2026 together. We can’t wait to see what you’ll share.
