Explore the Schedule

We’re really proud of the lineup our fantastic program committee has helped put together for 2026, and we can’t wait to introduce you to the speakers making this an unmissable event.

If you’ve been to RustConf in the past, you’ll notice while exploring this year’s program that 2026 attendees will get even more value from their ticket. We’ve added an additional track which means more breakout talks, plus we’re excited to introduce two new session types this year:

  • Community Lightning Talks: Focused, high-energy presentations from Rust community members sourced through the call-for-proposals (CFP) that go in-depth on an interesting topic for just 5 minutes.
  • Project Updates: Short presentations on exciting areas of Rust Project development, delivered by speakers heavily involved in the work.

We’ll be announcing more Project Update talks in the weeks ahead plus additional keynotes. In the meantime, here’s a peek at a few of the keynotes to look forward to…

Jon Seager — Keynote

When Ubuntu 25.10 shipped with Rust-based rewrites of core system packages, including coreutils and sudo, it marked a meaningful milestone for Rust in production. Ubuntu 26.04 LTS followed, backing those packages with Canonical’s trademark 15-year support and security commitment.

At RustConf 2026, Jon Seager will take us behind the scenes of that journey: the motivation, the tradeoffs, the surprises, and what comes next for Rust across the Ubuntu ecosystem. He’ll also cover the upki project (a collaboration between Canonical and the Rustls project) and share all the ways you can develop with Rust on Ubuntu today.

If you’ve ever wondered what Rust adoption looks like at scale, on one of the world’s most widely-used Linux distributions, this is the talk for you.

Rebecca Rumbul & Deb Nicholson — Closing Fireside Chat

To close out RustConf 2026, we’re doing something a little different.

The Rust Foundation’s Executive Director & CEO Rebecca Rumbul will sit down with Python Software Foundation Executive Director Deb Nicholson for a candid conversation about what it actually takes to steward two of the world’s most widely-used programming languages.

They’ll dig into the questions that matter to open source communities right now: cross-ecosystem interoperability, security priorities, governance lessons, and how to lead global communities in a rapidly changing world. This is the exact the kind of candid format-breaking conversation we’ve heard attendees are hungry for, and we’re excited to close the conference with it.

Dozens More Speakers On Our Schedule!

These are just a few of our many amazing sessions. Meet the rest of our speakers at rustconf.com/speakers or on the schedule. Spotlights to come on RustConf’s social channels!

See you in September!

We’re so grateful to everyone who submitted a talk, helped shape our program, and already stepped up to support the event as a sponsor. RustConf exists because of this community, and we can’t wait to gather again.
