RustConf 2025 Call For Talk Proposals: OPEN!

RustConf 2025 Seattle Sept 2-5

As we shared back in January, the Rust Foundation is excited to host RustConf in Seattle, Washington*, and online from September 2-5, 2025!

Today, we are pleased to share that RustConf is officially accepting applications from prospective speakers through April 29, 2025 at 11:59 PM PDT. Keep reading for more information about this year’s RustConf “Call For (talk) Proposals” (CFP)!

CFP Timeline

  • April 1: Call-for-Proposals Opens
  • April 29 @ 11:59 PM PDT: Call-for-Proposals Closes
  • April 30-May 6: Proposals Reviewed
  • May 6: Speaker Decision Emails Sent

Please stay tuned to the RustConf website for upcoming news and updates. Additional logistical information will be added soon, including details about registration. Registration will open later this month! Given the many complexities of reviewing talk submissions, this timeline is subject to change. If we need to make any adjustments to the CFP timeline, we will update this blog post and share a memo on social media.

Meet the 2025 RustConf Program Committee

The Rust Foundation would like to thank the 2025 RustConf Program Committee for their willingness to participate in reviewing and selecting RustConf talk submissions.

  • Chair: Ernest Kissiedu – Rust London Meetup Co-Organizer, Rust Nation UK Planning Team, Rust Foundation Global Rust Community Coordinator
  • Josh Stone – Rust Project Library and Release Team Member
  • Adam Harvey – Rust Foundation Software Engineer
  • Samuel Lijin – Seattle Rust User Group Member, Software Engineer
  • Brad Gibson – Seattle Rust User Group Organizer, CTO & CISO
  • Bart Massey – Associate Professor of Computer Science, Rust & Open Source Advocate.

While the RustConf planning team prefers to leave the talk scoring and initial proposal process to the Program Committee, we are involved in the final review of all suggested talks from the Program Committee and will make direct invitations to keynote and marquee speakers. As such, we feel it’s important to emphasize that the RustConf planning team is composed primarily of women. Between the event planning team and the Program Committee, we are confident that there are a variety of genders, identities, and backgrounds represented in the entire RustConf planning process.

*Travel Note

Finally, the Rust Foundation wanted to surface the following message from the RustConf planning team:

“The RustConf team understands that recent developments in the United States have caused stress, uncertainty, and concern for many members of our community—and indeed, for people around the world. We deeply empathize with those who are feeling this way. We are excited to host RustConf 2025 in Seattle, but also recognize that some of our international community members may not feel comfortable or able to travel this year. We want to assure you that we welcome talk submissions from remote speakers, and once registration opens, we’ll offer free virtual tickets. Additionally, we will have a flexible cancellation and refund policy to give international attendees some peace of mind, allowing them to confidently secure an in-person spot without having to worry about changes to their travel plans.”
