Rust Foundation Announces Arm as a Platinum Member

SEATTLE, WASHINGTON – RustConf 2025 – September 3, 2025 – The Rust Foundation, the independent nonprofit organization dedicated to stewarding and supporting the Rust programming language and its global community, today announced that Arm, provider of the industry’s most efficient and highest performing compute platform, has upgraded its Rust Foundation membership from Silver to Platinum – the foundation’s highest level of support.

Arm’s decision comes at a critical moment, as Rust moves from a niche systems language to a cornerstone of mainstream infrastructure spanning cloud, embedded, and IoT. At a time when some organizations are scaling back investment in open source, Arm has opted to increase its membership in the Rust Foundation to strengthen security, memory safety, and long-term sustainability in one of the most important programming ecosystems of the future.

About Arm’s shift to Platinum membership, Andrew Wafaa, Senior Director, Software Communities and Fellow at Arm said:

“In the age of AI, it has never been more important to empower developers everywhere with a more robust and reliable foundation for innovation. As a founding member of the Rust Foundation and longtime contributor to the Rust project, Arm is deepening its commitment to help advance the Foundation’s mission. Our continued support enables  the Rust Foundation, its global community, and fellow members to further strengthen, secure and scale the impact of the Rust programming language.”

Rust Foundation Executive Director & CEO Dr. Rebecca Rumbul said the following about Arm’s increased commitment to Rust through the Rust Foundation:

“Arm’s decision to upgrade its membership to the Platinum level demonstrates a deep and long-term commitment to the success of the Rust programming language and its global community. Platinum members play a critical role in sustaining the Foundation’s work to strengthen, secure, and scale Rust for the benefit of all developers and users. This support helps us expand existing programs and develop novel Rust Foundation initiatives like the newly-announced Rust Innovation Lab, which provides vital resources, infrastructure, and strategic guidance to projects in the Rust ecosystem, ensuring they can thrive for years to come.”
